Employee Spotlight Making their mark in the wine industry Bill Merz Director of West Coast Beverage Sales Bill Merz has been a member of the Gusmer team for the past 18 years, currently he is the Director of West Coast Beverage Sales. Bill is a graduate of the Fresno State Enology program, and prior to joining Gusmer he held several winemaking positions in the south San Joaquin Valley. Bill’s areas of expertise include fermentation, filtration, enzyme treatment, and product analysis. In his free time, Bill along with his wife Lisa, son Tony and daughter- in-law Sarah own and operate San Rucci Winery in Bakersfield, CA.
Bill is also a long-time customer of Gusmer, and with 40 years of winemaking experience, Bill knows quality winemaking ingredients. Bill relies on many Gusmer products including Oak-Mor, BioSelect pectinase, Renaissance and Chr. Hansen yeast, Chr. Hansen ML bacteria, MicroEssentials fermentation nutrients and Gusmer’s filter sheets for filtration prior to bottling.
Andrew Moore Technical Sales Rep (Sonoma)
Andrew Moore joined Gusmer Enterprises in 2020 as the Northern California Technical Sales Representative. Prior to joining Gusmer, Andrew completed his bachelor’s degree at Sonoma State University, along with an Oenology/Viticulture Certification from UC Davis. Andrew went on to develop a passion for crafting small lot, premium wines during the 9 years he spent at Charles Krug Winery in St. Helena. In 2015, Andrew along with his wife started K Squared Cellars named after their children Kaylie and Kyle. Andrew frequently used the Gusmer Sonoma analytical services as well as Chr. Hansen yeast, MicroEssentials fermentation nutrients and Chr. Hansen ML bacteria offered by Gusmer. So, when the opportunity came along, Andrew was thrilled to join the team and share his experience and knowledge of Gusmer products and services with other winemakers.
